Our family loves soda. The problem with our soda liking is it is very expensive because we all like something different. I am a Diet Pepsi drinker, while hubby is a Pepsi drinker. We do allow Gavyn a pop at dinner. He prefers Sierra Mist or Orange. So our weekly spending on soda with tax and deposit is around $17.00. I would hate to know what I have spent on soda over the last 12 year. It’s scary to think about that! I was so happy to learn about SodaStream. The SodaStream Soda Machine is an easy to use home making soda machine that is Eco-friendly also!
I was sent the Fountain Jet Starter Kit for my review. Included in this kit is the Soda Maker, 110-Liter Licensed Carbonator & Two Carbonating Reusable Bottles. These bottles are BPA-Free and are made with environmentally-friendly materials. I was also sent several soda mixes which make 50 servings! I was sent a Diet Ginger ale, Lemon-lime, Orange, Root Beer, Diet Pink Grapefruit, Cranberry-raspberry, Diet Cola, Cream Soda, and an Energy mix which is similar to Red Bull. I was also sent 3 My Water flavor essence to add a splash of flavor to sparkling water.
So I got everything prepared and asked Gavyn which flavors he would like and of course he said Lemon-lime and Orange. We got everything ready and read the directions. I would highly recommend this so you don’t have any messes. It is very user friendly and simple! We got the carbonating bottles ready with cold water and twisted on the machine like it said, put the Carbonator on the soda maker and a few button pushes later we had carbonated water!
We untwisted our bottles, added a cap full of mix, gently shook and we had ourselves homemade soda. We added ice to our glasses because I don’t think our water was very cold to begin with. Gavyn immediately took the orange pop and swigged it down.
He said at first it tasted a little funny but then loved it. I do feel a cap full of flavor mix is a little too much. We made the orange flavor again with a 3/4 full cap and it was much better and everyone here liked it much more. Zoe had to get in on the action and taste it. She never drinks soda so I’m not sure how she liked it. I’m loving that I do not have to buy 2 liters or 12 packs and pay that deposit. This is so eco-friendly also. No more recycling cans or plastic bottles. I don’t know how your state works but here in New York we have a $.05 deposit on all cans which we can bring back to the stores to get money back. This is fun for the kids who love putting each individual can into the machine but it is very time consuming and not at all convenient. With the SodaStream the 2 bottles come with caps so after your soda is made just put on the cap and put in your fridge. Once it’s gone, wash and make a new flavor. 
I am currently watching what I eat and my soda intake so the water flavors are wonderful. These are unsweetened and calorie free and give the water that extra burst of flavor. My favorite flavor is the berry but it also comes in lemon-lime and orange.
Since the main review we have tried the Cranberry-raspberry which I love love love, Cream Soda which tastes great and hubby tried the energy drink which he said was ok. He doesn’t drink energy drinks often so someone who does may love it. I am looking forward to trying all flavors and ordering more in the future.
