Cooking is a passion of mine and I want my children to have that same passion. I was taught young whether it was helping my mom or just watching. Could you imagine how big or scary some of our cooking utensils must be for our little ones though? A huge knife with a sharp edge, or large spatulas as big as their arms? Obviously for safety reason they couldn’t realistic help with a knife and I’ve been cut with a butter knife so that wouldn’t work either. I don’t think I’d want to attempt helping my parents with these items. And play kitchen utensils are just way to small to do anything.

I just discovered Curious Chef, a site that have cooking utensils for small hands. Fun gadgets to get your kids in the kitchen. It’s a funny site seeing them try to use one.

Curious Chef sent us a couple items to try out and we are really impressed. First, I must express these actually work and your children must be supervised while helping to prepare anything. I was sent the 3 piece nylon knife set. I love that this set comes in 3 different sizes for all your cutting needs. These are perfect for their little hands and have soft button grips on the handles. Now I did let Zoe help me cut up quite a few things over the last couple weeks and her face was pure bliss when she cut a piece of butter off.

She yelled to me “mommy I did it look”. She accomplished something she has never been able to do. I was also sent a pizza cutter. Now I chose this because we do eat pizza a couple times a month and normal sizes are just too large for Zoe. This nylon pizza cutter has safety in mind with a safety feature over the blade to guard from any slippage. Again, this has the non stick button grips and it’s safe to use on non stick pans. Zoe had a fun time cutting her own pizza and using her very own utensils. I was surprised when this pizza cutter cut with ease.

Gavyn had to get in on the action and cut away at his pizza. He thought it was “cool”Both of these products are high quality and very durable. I love that these products are teaching my child the basic techniques before having to use our life sized products.

Curious Chef are great tools that make kids want to be in the kitchen. No more telling your children no when they ask to help in the kitchen. They can now let their creative sides out and help do anything. What is even more impressive is all products comply with all relevant standards including the CPSC lead and phthalate (BPA) limits. Age appropriate for children 5+. Zoe is way under 5 but she had to get in on the action. I was always a step away from her while she was using Curious Chef products. They even care about the Earth and the package materials are made from recycled and/or earth friendly materials.
