Ice Castle Extravaganza

This past weekend was the annual President’s Day Ice Castle Extravaganza which is held on Chautauqua Lake in Western NY. We braved the bitter cold temps, and on Valentine’s Day bundled up and headed for the lake. The kids enjoyed seeing the castle. Gavyn was in amazement that they take all this ice from the lake to make this. Zoe just kept saying yay ice castle! It’s fun for the kids. Although, it was brutally bitter out we made it. We didn’t stay long though.

I couldn’t get very good pictures though as there was always people around it. So for those of you who have never seen an ice castle enjoy!
We are hoping to head back in the evening, because this is the first year there will be a light show.  The first ever light show, and it is going to be animated.  I bet it will be stunning.  The castle is a great attraction here in such a small area.  If you ever venture to Western NY in the winter time, it really is a must stop by place.  It’s brilliant.

Update:  Although we never made the evening lighting of the ice castle, you can view the lighting of the Mayville Ice Castle in the comfort of your home!
