Disaster in the dining room

I’m sitting in the living room reading books to Zoe when I hear…drip, drip noises. Curious I go around the entry way into the kitchen and the sink was turned off. Into the dining room I walk and the floor is covered in water, and I smell sewer! Oh no my first remodeled room is ruined. I called my hubby as he was visiting his brother and said honey you need to get home right now it’s raining in the dining room. I ran upstairs to the bathroom and didn’t find anything unusual. So I waited for dear hubby. He got home grabbed his box cutter and cut a hole in the ceiling.

The smell of old nasty water was horrible. He checked the pipes to the shower, and toilet and nothing was wet. He was stumped. Then, I remembered something. The tiles in the shower had been lifted from being so old. I asked him if the water had been dripping behind them and it finally gave out. He said I’m so smart…he didn’t have to tell me that though lol. He went upstairs to the bathroom and ran the shower onto the wall where the tiles have lifted. Bingo! The dining room had water everywhere.

It seems to never end. Just when we get caught up on everything something happens. We ran to the Bargain Depot here and they had a cheap shower surround that we bought as we didn’t want to spend a lot.

The bathroom is getting gutted soon for the remodel so we spent $39.00 on a cheap basic surround. I really like the basic look for now but cannot wait for the bathroom to get redone. It’s much better than the ugly tiles that were in there.

No matter how many harsh chemicals I used the stains would not remove..We are happy with our cheapo buy:)
It’s fixed for now but now we have the hole in the ceiling to fix. This weekend will be that project!

Oh no! What a mess! Stuff like that always seems to happen here when my hubby isn't home too:)

Oh no! Well at least you didnt have to spend too much (for now). Hopefully it wont be too difficult of a fix…
We have the same problem with the tile in our house. My mom cleans houses and helped us clean when we moved in. She tried everything to get the stains out of the shower and nothing worked. Fun fun! LOL!

Oh, that sucks! I'm highly impressed that you and your husband were able to detect and fix the problem though – my hubby and I aren't nearly that handy. I don't think we would have had the guts to just cut a hole in the ceiling!

I hope it doesn't take too much time out of your weekend to get things patched up.

Oh no! Your beautiful ceiling!! Good though that the surround was a quick inexpensive fix!!
