Although, school doesn’t officially start here in New York until after Labor Day, I am already gearing up to get my children and myself ready for back to school.   I prefer to back to school shop whenever I see a great deal.  So when I am out I pick up a variety of items from school supplies, socks, backpacks and anything else my children are going to need.  Zoe starts preschool this year, while Gavyn is heading into his last year in elementary school *sob*.  I am the mom who packs school lunches every single day, so having a variety of different foods for them are necessary.  With their sandwich they get pudding, yogurt, crackers, on occasion chips, pretzels, fruits, vegetables and juice.  Frito Lay has always made it easy to pack chips for my children with their variety packs, which have flavors my kids love.  Whether it is a bag of Doritos, Sun Chips, Fritos, Cheetos or something else, I can count on my children enjoying a crunchy snack on occasion, without having to purchase large bags.  Here is how a typical school day week goes in our home.

The night before school both kids take a shower/bath so I do not have to worry about it in the morning.  We then go into their bedrooms and lay out clothes they are going to wear in the morning.  In the morning, the kids get their clothes, get dressed, eat breakfast, and brush their teeth.  Breakfast is a really eventful time in our home, as I empower my children to decide what they want for breakfast.  Some days they only want cereal with juice, other days it’s an egg sandwich with fruit, pancakes or waffles and occasionally they ask for a full breakfast.  Hectic yes!  But my children must eat a nutritious breakfast to start their day.  My mom always made us delicious meals in the morning, and I want the same for mine.  While they are watching cartoons, I am in the kitchen making their lunches so I can pack them neatly for them to have a lunch they will enjoy.  I will either bring the kids to school or Gavyn has a friend pick him up.  This year Zoe will be in an afternoon preschool class, so I will drive her and then pick both kids up at 3:00pm.
