Being on a school schedule has helped our family with craziness in the evening. When my children arrive home from school they wash their hands, eat a snack and then it is school work. Because Gavyn is in 5th grade, he receives quite a bit of homework, plus he has to write for 10 minutes. Writing is his most challenging subject in school. This is the area he has always had an “S” for satisfactory yet teachers always say he is sloppy and needs help. He has been writing since kindergarten nightly, although much better, he is still rather messy. Once he writes he must read for 15 minutes, quietly in his bedroom with no distractions although, the TV does not get turned on until after school work.
While he is working on all of that I am teaching Zoe. Many people call me crazy since they were just in school all day, but I like my children to be a step up so they aren’t so confused in school.
With Zoe I read to her for 15 minutes, than we work on her sight words. Once her sight words are finished we do a small craft and I mean small. I print out a tracing sheet, worksheet or something to help with whatever she is working on school. Currently I’m teaching her how to write inside the lines since her papers always looks like this
Now everyone knows I cannot craft (Kelli can craft and makes fabulous waffles) or bake, so I need a little inspiration and instruction. Back in May I reviewed Kiwi Crate, a monthly service that delivers age-appropriate crafts straight to your door!
We had a lot of fun with that crate so I’ve decided that beginning in September I will be subscribing to Kiwi Crate. Sure I can look online and go buy materials and all that. But by the time I found something, bought materials and lost too much patience, I’d throw it aside. Kiwi Crate is so simple because all the kits include all materials to create a fun craft. Our kit included several different things and the kids are begging for more. See sad when you can’t craft and something fun arrives! I’m just a boring mom, but we love to cook.
Kiwi Crate would make a fun after school activity for the kids. And you can have peace of mind knowing that kits are designed by parents, reviewed by a panel of experts and tested by kids!
Right now Kiwi Crate is offering $5 off your monthly subscription with promo code TEACHER2 in check out OR receive $20 Off an Annual Subscription receiving two months free. Order with promo code TEACHER7 in check out. Both offers valid through 9/3 Check out www.kiwicrate.com today to learn more.
