Ice Cream is one of those foods I crave! I don’t feel guilty even if there is high fat and calorie content, because I eat ice cream as a treat, not regularly, because they can get extremely unhealthy. Living in Western NY, you can guarantee most here will tell you which brand is the best. Our favorite brand is headquartered here in Western NY, offering delicious flavors and creamy ice cream and novelties.
However, Graeter’s Ice Cream certainly has my heart now. I have never heard of Graeter’s, founded in 1870 by Louis C. Graeter. I was intrigued on how they hand make their ice cream. Their exclusive french pot process, ensures tasty ice cream, 2 gallons at a time.
Even the cat wanted some!
I was sent their newest classic flavor Black Cherry Chocolate Chip and couldn’t wait to dig in. Oh my gosh, incredible, mmm and wow, were the first few words out of my mouth. And at first bite of what they call a chocolate chip, I was impressed. These are not chips, they are large chunks of chocolate, which left me wanting more (since I’m a chocolate fanatic)! I had to go research to see how they get these chunks of chocolate and according to Graeter’s website it says:
We create these unique chips by pouring our own specially prepared liquid chocolate into the French Pot just as the ice cream is finishing. A paddle is then used to break up the frozen layer into the randomly sized chunks of chocolate.
Heavenly is all I can say to describe them. When you think of chocolate chips, you don’t think of chunks of chocolate, but that is exactly what Graeter’s gives their fans. The black cherry flavor I knew I was going to love, as I grew up on black cherry pop. While the huge chocolate chunks are something to acknowledge you will enjoy the real large black cherry halves that are widespread in the creamy natural cherry flavored ice cream. When these arrived my brother-in-law was visiting, who also loves black cherry flavor, and said this company must make its way to Western NY, specifically our area just south of Buffalo. I concur! Irresistible is as close of a word you will get when you try this flavor.
Also sent was my kids preferred flavor since they are boring, a signature flavor, vanilla chocolate chip, anything but boring. This is Graeter’s second best selling flavor and I can see why. The vanilla ice cream tastes genuine, no fake or artificial flavors in this natural ice cream. Made with cream, milk, cane sugar, skim milk, eggs and a few other ingredients, makes this all-natural ice cream flavorful, again with gigantic chunks of semi-sweet chocolate distributed throughout.
Lastly, the all-time best seller, Black Raspberry Chip. The profound purple color comes from the black raspberry puree, sweetened perfectly and creamy. This flavor is rich but fresh, with no offensive aftertaste. At first bite you’ll be in heaven, wanting more and more. This isn’t missing out on the large chips either, they are scattered in the entire pint.
Graeter’s please come to our hometown! Graeter’s is massive in the Cincinnati area, since that is where the ice cream originated from and is now in their fourth generation, however fans like myself can order conveniently online, so we can enjoy their delicious high quality best ice cream flavors anytime as well. The thick ice cream has intense flavors. I honestly can say our favorite ice cream brand has nothing on Graeter’s. This is truly the best ice cream I’ve ever had. It’s natural, with cream and milk as the first two ingredients.
