The Easter Bunny filled our Easter baskets to the handles with junk. Huge hollow and solid chocolate bunnies, bags of jelly beans, bubble gum, Peeps, chocolate eggs and the list goes on. We had the usual Easter coloring book, Easter socks, a plush toy and a new toothbrush, everything else was sugar. As a child I didn’t complain but I knew I didn’t want the same for my children, so I spoke to the Easter Bunny and told him no junk for our baskets. Instead they get filled with useful items my kids will use such as craft supplies, Play-Doh, small games, hair accessories, jewelry and toys. Sure we have a few chocolate items, but we limit the sugar content in the baskets, always getting sugar-free if possible. This will hopefully save on future dental bills and the kids bouncing off the walls. We have even thought about making themed Easter baskets such as Cars, Princesses and military.
