Zoe has an opposite of toy likes than I did at age 6. For me, I wanted to feed and change my dolls, color and play with Barbie and ponies. Zoe wants any toy that poses a challenge, whether making a craft, building with blocks, accomplishing a difficult puzzle or any toy where she has to use her imagination. She is very smart for a 6 year old, so finding toys that interest her for her age can be challenging. But one toy that is educational, allows Zoe to use her imagination while building are Mega Bloks. She had the large Mega Bloks at an early age, where she would build and stack all day long. I even taught her the basic colors using them since the blocks were blue, red, yellow and green.
So when we had the opportunity to review the Mega Bloks Barbie products (complimentary product sent for review) she jumped for joy. Barbie is her favorite toy to play with her cousin, so I knew she would love these. Mega Bloks Barbie give children a way to play with their favorite doll by building, decorating and designing buildings, vehicles, boutiques complete with accessorizing once built.
Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Pool Party
We were sent the Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Pool Party which is a 159 piece set complete a pool, Barbie, Ken and must-have pool party accessories. This kit is recommended for children 4+ though Zoe did need quite a bit of help putting it together. With the easy-to-follow instruction booklet she was able to confidently build the structure which excited her as she wanted this assembled to play. With some help and her assembling many pieces independently, it took her only about 45 minutes.
Once constructed she squealed with delight. She is a visual learner, so styled it very similar to the pictures in the directions and on the cover of the box.
The pool is multilevel with the bottom half the pool area and wading pool. These can be filled with real water for an entertaining pool party to cool down. Barbie and Ken can walk the stairs to take a dip in the pool by sliding down the swimming pool slide!
There are deck chairs to relax, get some sun and chill with friends even a pool float. The raised area near the pool area is where preparing food happens on the grill furnished with benches, hot dogs, pizza, refreshments and condiments. Ken was happily grilling up hotdogs for Barbie.
The upper level is a sitting area with table and chairs and umbrellas for shade. It wouldn’t be complete without flowers, shrubs and palm tree plus a stereo for music. Barbie has removable clothing and accessories, so she can change out of her hostess apparel into a bathing suit in a flash. The Mega Bloks Pool Party is well made with attention to detail though we did have some frustrations along the way.
Barbie’s hair detaches very easily so doesn’t stay on securely. Also the palm tree top falls off with the slight bump. Other than that we didn’t have any issues. Children will enjoy the bright girly Barbie colors and that they can style however they wish. Accessories can be moved around on the Mega Bloks blocks or even on the floor around the set. I appreciate that there are building sets geared for girls as there haven’t been any through the years. It is a fun set, with great detail, perfect for summertime building fun and any Barbie fan!
