Fairy Tales provided complimentary products for review purposes, all opinions 100% my own.
Having a swimming pool makes us fortunate in the summer, when temperatures are hot, kids are bored and family & friends visit. We spend a good portion of our summer sitting poolside watching the kids have a blast. But there is always concern of chlorine damage to my kid’s hair and ours. Chlorine can lead to dry, brittle hair and also discolor, something I don’t want for my children, which is why I buy products to help remove the chemicals and prevent damage.
I was thrilled when Fairy Tales reached out to review their Sun & Swim line of products, products to help remove chlorine, sea salts and hydrate hair. I’m very well aware of Fairy Tales products, using their lice prevention products daily when school is in session and not once have either of my children had lice. I’m pretty sure the products DO work to help prevent head lice, so I felt no differently with this line of products.
Lifeguard Clarifying Shampoo gently removes chlorine, sea salt and residue with natural grapefruit peel oil, orange flower and pineapple extracts. This shampoo lathers really well and smells tropical.
Zoe kept saying “mmm” while I washed her hair. I could feel the difference just from shampooing her hair and how clean it felt. This shampoo rinses away clean, leaving hair feeling squeaky clean. This shampoo is paraben and sulfate-free and also formulated without nut oil, dairy, gluten or soy. We followed with the Lemon-Aid Conditioner.
Lemon-Aid Conditioner removes chlorine “green” and sea salts safely. This is infused with fruit enzymes and citrus extracts of lemon, grapefruit, pineapple and orange to help remove unwanted minerals from hair. This conditioner has a more “lemony” smell than the shampoo, smelling fantastic. It is concentrated so only a dab is needed to condition hair. I let it sit for about 2 minutes before rinsing. Again, this rinses easily, leaving hair soft, manageable and clean.
Once Zoe’s bath was over I noticed how much easier it was to comb her hair, which was probably built up with chlorine before from swimming. There were no tangles. So I decided to blow dry to see the full results.
Shiny, soft beautiful hair like it should be for a 6 year old. No residue, you could tell her hair was clean and pure again!
These aren’t the only products Fairy Tales has to prevent hair from harsh chemicals in pool. They also have CoCo Cabana Leave-in Sun Spray which is a spray that builds a barrier around the hair to prevent dry, brittle and sun-damaged hair. We cover our skin with sunscreen, eyes with sunglasses and cover our little one’s heads in hats, but don’t think about our hair and the damage the sun can do to it. The sun can do more than just dry it out. It can make it frizzy, fragile and brittle. This handy spray is a leave-in spray that is sprayed before swimming and after to protect and moisturize the hair. It smells amazing, like coconuts and did leave Zoe’s hair soft.
Just like the Rosemary Repel spray, I will always make sure I have the Fairy Tales Sun & Swim products on hand to protect not only my kids hair but mine too! Not only are they fabulous for poolside, they are great for the beach, waterparks and vacations. The products are all-natural and organic, meaning no pesticides and chemical free!
