I sit here today looking at my children just wishing time could slow down. Do I really have a 6th grader? Has my baby just entered 1st grade?
Unfortunately, time is not an option when it comes to parenting. The children grow faster than we blink so we have to take the time to cherish each and every moment with our kids.
I take a ton of photos watching my kids run and play. We play bowling on the Wii and still enjoy playing Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders as a family. Today I watched for over an hour as my kids built a fort, playing inside, chit-chatting, laughing and bickering. I sit quietly while my son has friends over listening to them play “Army Dudes” and Nerf. I cherish the moments with my daughter playing My Little Pony, Lalaloopsy and house. I cherish pool time, driving to outings and kisses and hugs from my kiddos.
How long will they do this for? Kisses and hugs? I hope forever! I don’t know how long we’ll play or they’ll want to play with me, which is why we have to cherish and celebrate childhood moments because time is flying and they are only young once. Before we know it they’ll be off with friends away from home, driving a car and off to college. The thought of it brings a tear to my eye.
Do you wish you could just stop time? You and me both! Go play with your kids, get creative and enjoy each moment!
