Our family loves the Vtech InnoTab learning tablets for kids. We have several and every child that visits adores everything they can do with them. They are a lot of fun. This kid-friendly device is an educational tablet offering tons of activities for children. I was really excited to get the newest model the VTech InnoTab 3S. We received the
InnoTab 3S The Wi-Fi Learning Tablet Pink.
When your InnoTab 3S arrives you start setup by setting the date, time, name, taking a photo for the profile photo, set up wifi and register the tablet via the learning lodge navigator, which needs to be installed via the USB or included CD.
VTech Learning Lodge Navigator
The Learning Lodge Navigator is where you’ll create a parent account or login with an existing. Here is where you’ll be able to setup the new device and join VTech Kid Connect (more below). The Learning Lodge Navigator is a kid-friendly, age appropriate place to download over 600 educational apps including games, e Reader books, music, videos and more. Children can choose from math, reading, science and problem solving to enhance their learning skills. Parents can track their child’s progress here as well. Apps are cost effective starting at only $2.39. We also received three free downloads with our registration.
Once setup children will enjoy 20 fun and useful apps including games, reading, art, taking photos or videos and an array of other things such as a calculator. This has 4 GB of internal memory (expandable to 32 GB with a micro SD card, sold separately). It is simple to navigate on the home screen by pressing left or right with the stylus on the screen. Children will choose where they want to go.
This device arrives with the read, play & create cartridge which has What’s That Noise book, H2O Go! Game and Color & Pop creativity art studio.
Like with all the InnoTab books we appreciate that children can read independently, have the story read to them and have vocabulary turned on so they see the words being read as they highlight. Each word can also be touched to find the meaning. Pictures in the story are also animated with sounds.
We are really thrilled that VTech has observed what parents were saying about the battery life and is now providing rechargeable batteries with this device. Now we can plug in the device with the included AC adapter and it will charge the batteries. How convenient is that! InnoTab’s are battery suckers so I really like this. Also on the 3S you’ll find a 2.0mp 180 degree rotating camera and video recorder so children can take their own photos and videos anytime they wish. They are not the greatest photos unless the area is well lit. There is also a D-Pad so navigation is smooth, with a touch of their finger.
Through the settings on the InnoTab and in the parents area you are able to connect via wi-fi. In the web browser children can go to a variety of places such as Sports Illustrated Kids, Time for Kids, Web Weather for Kids and check out photographs. It is all very kid-friendly and safe. We did have some lagging issues while browsing. Connect to the Learning Lodge Navigator from here as well to get more apps or to add items to their wish list. The wish list maker must have wi-fi to connect. Children can make a list of their wants, when parents login they can see what apps children are wishing for.
My Magic Beanstalk
This fun game is an on-board game where children will grow beans by watering, using potions to grow beans or fertilizer to make the beans grow faster. Once the beans are ready children will need to pick them before the pod dies and collect them. There’s quite a bit of interaction in the game for growing beans, where children can come back daily to care for.
Accept to install Kid Connect when you register your device. On your iOS or Android device download the free VTech Kid Connect app. Once downloaded and installed parents can stay connected with their child by sending text messages! You’ll be able to connect with your child’s InnoTab. I think it is pretty cool. I send Zoe a text, she heads to Kid Connect to see what’s going on and can get her messages.
Zoe thinks this is really neat that I can say hello or whatever we want. She can write back or send me stickers. There is a premium app coming soon as well to send voice and multimedia. Great for those parents who travel often and just want to hear a voice from their child from time-to-time. When she goes into the Kid Connect app, it will say “check it out, you’ve got new messages” My profile photo appears, where she clicks and can see the message sent. She can then send me a message back. She sent me a big kiss back:)
We are really enjoying the InnoTab 3S. The fun new features allow children to feel like they have their own tablet. The 5 inch color touch screen is large so children can see easily and the overall look is durable. The InnoTab 3S works best with the included stylus (there are two included with a strap to attach). It will work with a finger but you have to press hard. This is packed full of fun and safety is priority for our children. The InnoTab 3S does have some slow browser issues, but for children they do not have a clue and they mostly will not be on the web browser, they’ll be enjoying the apps or game cartridges. There are many game cartridges to purchase for enhanced learning in children’s favorite characters.
