I’m SMILING IT FORWARD™ Because:
As a parent we always want our children to feel their best. Unfortunately, this is life and children get colds, flu, hurt or a medical condition that doesn’t allow them feel like their bubbly selves. I’m all too familiar with sick children as Gavyn almost passed away spending a better part of his first 6 months in All Children’s Hospital and a daughter that has an ongoing medical issue. Each appointment, each hospital visit, I wish I could take their place, to take away the fears, sadness and hurt they are feeling. But I can’t. Instead I sit by their sides waiting for that moment we all wait for.
The perk up mode I call it. This weekend Gavyn was really under the weather. He was sad as we were heading to my dad’s as my younger brother arrived home for the weekend from college. We had plans for our end-of-the-season cookout with family and one last time 4-wheeling before that cold, white stuff arrives. Sadly, he couldn’t come. While we were out having fun family time, he was confined to bed trying to get better, with grandma by his side. Leaving him just made me feel guilty but he continued to say go mom and dad, I’ll sleep. He’s such a sweetie.
Unfortunately, this lasted until Sunday morning. Luckily, though Sunday was the annual apple festival so we headed out as a family to enjoy vendors, fresh picked apples, warm homemade baked doughnuts and of course fresh apple cider, made right in our mills here in our area.
All smiles up on that rock pile yesterday, the hit of the day, from Gavyn
Seeing my kids smile after they are not feeling well brings sense of relief. Their energy levels soar, which means playing again, running around and being what they are…
