I am rarely sick, it just doesn’t happen often, but when it does I get frustrated. I take very good care of myself; I eat nutritious meals, drink tons of water, wash my hands like crazy and am a clean freak. So when I get sick it usually hits me hard as it is a once a year thing. Now that spring is creeping up on us (I think), my time is here, boo!
I woke up this morning with major sinus pressure, puffy eyes, a stuffy nose that immediately started running and chapped lips. A cold in full-force. I knew the minute my feet hit the floor my body needed a blast of Vitamin C and a lot of it.
Anytime I feel like this, this is the smoothie I make twice a day. It is my Vitamin C blast smoothie, though more like a juice as I do not add ice. I like this drink warm-ish so I can down it quick.
This smoothie is filled with fruits high in Vitamin C and coconut milk without added sugars and is low in fat. Very high in calcium, fiber and boasts 402% Vitamin C, a definite Vitamin C boosting smoothie.
If you wake up feeling blah like I did, drink a full glass of water and make this immediately. I took a short morning nap and woke up feeling great. Though a fever followed. I’m feeling better now that my body is filled with nutritious foods. I’m not saying this drink will make your cold go away, but it’s beneficial to help your immune system and to feel healthier quicker.
- 1/2 cup pure coconut milk
- 1 cup fresh strawberries – halved
- 1/2 cup fresh pineapple chunks
- 1 medium kiwi fruit
- 1 mandarin orange
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Place all ingredients in a blender in order listed and blend until smooth. If you want this thicker and colder add a cup of ice.
