As a child I loved going to amusement parks with my family. Now that I’m an adult, things haven’t changed. I’m a roller coaster fanatic and get a thrill from riding many thrill rides except rides that spin extremely fast. Those were once fun, not so much anymore.
If you have a child, relative, (or yourself) that have the same thrill from going to amusement parks, then take a look at the K’NEX thrill rides building sets and create an amusement park right in the comfort of your home.
We have built several K’NEX amusement park sets in the past such as the Typhoon Frenzy roller coaster building set and the K’NEX Amusement Park Space Series, and now we get to complement our collection with the K’NEX 2-in-1 Ferris Wheel building set and the K’NEX Hyperspeed Hangtime roller coaster.
K’NEX 2-in-1 Ferris Wheel Building Set
The K’NEX 2-in-1 Ferris wheel toy is for anyone up for a challenge.
It wasn’t difficult to assemble but did take some time to construct. This is a 922 piece set, recommended for children 9+. My husband and I decided we were going to spend the evening putting this together. As with all K’NEX sets, it comes with a full color instruction booklet with step-by-step instructions. Most parts are American made parts such as the connectors, spacers and gears. This also has 2 motors that will take batteries, one for the Ferris wheel and one for the spin ride, which will be built together. The set can also make a tumbling tornado ride which we haven’t made yet.
The Ferris wheel will have many spokes and supports being built as well as carts where it looks like people are sitting. The entire Ferris wheel took us about 2.5 hours to build. I recommend a large area in your home to build that will be uninterrupted of children and pets because breaks will be needed. You will also need 2 AA batteries for the motor to get the Ferris wheel to rotate.
Once the Ferris wheel is built, it will be time to build the spin ride, also needing 2 AA batteries for the motor. This is a much smaller building set that didn’t take long to build at all. I do recommend building this alongside of the Ferris wheel so you can see them in movement together.
It truly amazes me that a K’NEX expert designs these sets, makes instructions for families to enjoy and we bring them to life. This set is perfect for anyone up for a building experiment as the Ferris wheel stands 3’ high! Buy the 2-in-1 ferris wheel on Amazon. This was also named on Amazon’s 2014 holiday toy list!
K’NEX Hyperspeed Hangtime Roller Coaster
Ready to build a roller coaster that is 4.0’ long and 2.5’ tall with over 625 K’NEX pieces including coaster track, connectors, rods and a motorized launcher? This set is so cool, but does need someone to build with patience.
It wasn’t difficult as much of this set is the support for the track. The roller coaster set has an exclusive inverted blaster motor to launch a hanging coaster car through the 18 feet of track!
I just wanted this built so I could see the car blast off, and that it does. Isn’t this phenomenal?
The car goes through famous roller coaster twists and turns all while hanging upside down on the track with people in the car!
The only fault I’ve seen with this is the car sometimes loses speed and can’t make it through the final loop back to the launcher so a push is needed. You can see that in my short video below.
Both of these K’NEX amusement park building toys are exciting for everyone and will help children develop an array of skills such as problem solving, hand/eye coordination, following directions and so much more.
Check out my short video of all three in action:
I’d highly recommend both sets. For more information visit www.knex.com
