When new toys hit shelves, I get pretty excited. I may be 33 year’s old, but that doesn’t mean I don’t get excited to play. Which is why I’m thrilled to introduce to you toymaker Cepia’s newest toys, The Happy’s, from the creators of Zhu Zhu Pets! Remember that craze? Yep, I’m positive The Happy’s are going to be another craze boys & girls are going to want.
The Happy’s are an adorable line of motorized plush pet toys, that play, follow, chase and perform tricks.
We received Bentley and the chase and play ball accessory. Bentley is a cute retriever that arrives with a treat to perform all those fun tricks and to follow you around.
Set-up was a breeze. Install two AAA batteries into the pet, push the button on the back of the pet near the tail to activate explore mode, push and hold the button on the treat and you are set to play. When the button is pressed on the treat, the pet responds to the IR signal coming from that treat. When the pet gets close enough, it’ll perform a trick. Since we received Bentley, he likes to chase his tail, it is silly how he’ll spin around and around trying to get it, just like a real dog. Entertaining for young children.
They are simple for children to understand, no remote controls etc for them to get confused by. Zoe loved walking and having Bentley follow but it became a game of play ball when we removed The Happy’s Chase & Play Ball from the packaging.
The ball has an on/off switch, once turned on and the pet is set to explore mode, off the pet will go to play and chase the ball. Bentley took off chasing the ball, pushing it and pouncing on it. There were times the ball would meet with a cupboard or the fridge or he would get stuck on the ball, but for the most part the ball would move around and Bentley would get it.
I’d highly recommend a hard surface to play with the toys. They did work well on our living room flooring which is a very thin area rug on top of a hardwood floor. And if you have any of these
Zoe thought it would be “fun” to turn the ball on and use a treat at the same time, not recommended. Bentley became very confused trying to chase the ball and find his treat.
The Happy’s will bring imagination to life, by encouraging creative play. The Happy’s are more than a plush toy, children will interact and the pet will follow along. My nephew (age 4) stopped over and his imagination was running wild by making barking noises and talking to Bentley as he were really alive; “come here puppy”, “get the ball”, “do you want a treat”. I love that these toys are fun and encourage pretend play.
The Happy’s Pet Toys
The Happy’s characters include Mittens, Sport, Bentley, Chance. Mittens is the only cat available, I would love to see more cats available in the future. Sport is a golden doodle, Bentley the golden retriever and Chance a beagle. To have the most fun, buy a playset or accessories and you’ll also be pleased to know that treats are compatible with all characters! The more characters you have, the more fun that will be had to perform more tricks!
Has your child wanted a pet, but you’re not ready for one just yet? Introduce your child to The Happy’s. They are playful and fun!
The Happy’s toys are now available at Walmart, Target, Toys R Us and Justice. The Happy’s are recommended for children 4+ and retail price is $5.99 – $24.99.
