I’m a 2014 K’NEX Brand Ambassador. Products received for review purposes. All opinions 100% my own
A couple years ago Gavyn went to a sleepover for one of his friend’s birthday parties. The minute he stepped foot through the door the next day he shouted, “mom I have to get Plants vs. Zombies!” Excuse me, what? He went on to tell me about this amazing video game that him and his friends were playing all night long. Since I’m a ratings girl, I went on to do some research and was OK with the 10+ rating but still have no idea about this game other than it is an addicting and fun game that kids love. According to Gavyn, he plants various plants such as Peashooter, Wall-nut, Chomper and Sunflowers, which all have different actions to defend against the zombies.
For all of you that have Plants Vs. Zombies fans in your homes that love to build, K’NEX has super fun Plants Vs. Zombies building sets to bring the action to life right in front of them, without a video game or smartphone.
The K’NEX Wild West Skirmish Plants Vs. Zombies building set is a 219 piece set recommended for children 5+. Zoe built this entire set independently with no help, she’s seven.
This set, like all K’NEX sets arrives with full color step-by-step instructions to guide children how to build with the K’NEX pieces, connectors, bricks etc. Zoe likes to organize the parts for easier building.
Children will be building a Wild West level from Plants vs. Zombies 2. The building set includes a Peashooter figure, 2 Cowboy Zombie figures and 1 Prospector Zombie figure. Also, has a stand children will build for the pea ammo!
This set took Zoe about 45-60 minutes.
She never asked for help except at the end when she was trying to get the included figures on the bricks which double as a stand. They wouldn’t stand on the brick. From the looks of it our figure holes are just too large so they tip. We have tons of K’NEX and I couldn’t find any other brick that would work, so she is playing by standing them against the level. The Peashooter really shoots peas at the zombies and moves on the track to aim at them.
The stand where the zombies stand also spins so they can avoid the peas. Great for teamwork if playing with a sibling, relative or friend!
I’d highly recommend this to any child that loves to build and is also a fan of Plants Vs. Zombies.
While shopping, pick up more figures to expand playing time with this set or additional Plants vs. Zombies K’NEX sets, from the K’NEX Plants vs. Zombies mystery figure bags, series 1. There are 8 figures available but it is a mystery as to who you will receive. We received another Peashooter, Bonk Choy and Future Conehead Zombie.
Also available are Basic Zombie, Mummy Zombie, Cowboy Zombie, Bloomerang, and Sunflower. These are very easy to build! Which buildable mystery figure will you receive? It’s a mystery!
