Lunchables are more wholesome!

I will be the first to admit my kids hardly ever get Lunchables. My kids do enjoy these, and they are convenient to grab and go, but they are not very healthy. So when I heard Lunchables were making their grab and go meals more wholesome and adding healthy items, I was quite thrilled and had to check them out. My son loves the pizza ones, and I do get them for him when we need something quick, and he begs for one in his lunch every few weeks. To my surprise when I went to get one here is what I found inside.

It was now made on crust made with whole grain with 2% cheese, a mini bag of Cheese Nips, a bottle of spring water with a Tropical Punch Kool-Aid Singles(only 10 calories) and a nice treat of Nilla Wafers. A little better than before. My son really enjoyed this for his lunch the day I packed it, and said the kids were “jealous” and wanted one.

Other varieties include:

Turkey and Cheddar Sub
Ham and American Sub
Chicken and American Sub Sandwich
Chicken Strips
Turkey and Cheddar Cracker Combos
Ham and American Cracker Combo
Deep Dish Cheese or Pepperoni Pizza

What makes me thrilled about the new varieties is the items you’ll find inside. You may get mandarin oranges or applesauce, a sugar-free jello cup, and yummy treats like Nilla Wafers or Chewy Chips Ahoy! cookies. All now include a bottle of water and a Kool-Aid tablet that fizzes if you wish to add. I think it’s great they’ve listened to us moms and added fruit and whole wheat to the products. Because lets face it, kids love these types of meals, moms not so much. I’ll now consider purchasing Lunchables now due to the more healthy products and ingredients. They still aren’t the best choice, but that’s ok. Calorie counts are a bit lower, sodium and fat is still high, but as a treat once in a while, it will be ok. For the cracker meals I split them up between two children to lower the calories, they really enjoyed them. To make it better they’ve made their packaging more Eco-friendly, so way to go Lunchables!

Disclaimer:“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Lunchables and received the products necessary to facilitate my review. In addition, I received a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.”

We've never tried Lunchables, but I can see how they would be quick and easy for when my kids are a little older. I'm glad to see that they're making them healthier!
