Substitute the bad for the good!

I used to use all bad ingredients when cooking. It was something I was taught and refused to change. In the past 7 months I’ve learned a lot of tricks to substituting. It does take some getting used to, to eating healthier, but you’ll be happy you made the change. Some foods may taste a tad bit different but just experiment with them. I wanted to share with you a chart that I use daily to this day. has a list of basic substitutions. Check Out:

Ingredient substitutions: Make the switch for healthier recipes

This list is wonderful! If your family does not like whole wheat pasta try using Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta. This is a great alternative, which tastes like traditional pasta but is the first white pasta to be enriched with Fiber, Calcium and Vitamin D. If you can’t do wheat you might as well get some much needed nutrients.

For sugar I’ve changed over to many varieties but mainly Demerara sugar, Agave Nectar,( I love Madhava Agave Nectar) and Stevia. Although I do use artificial sweeteners these really aren’t recommended.

Beware of the breads you eat as well. Most breads have high fructose corn syrup as one of the first few ingredients. This is bad! I found an amazing bread that I love. Earth Grains! Many flavors which taste great, and contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, and have 0g trans fat. The thin buns they carry are delicious. They are great for making healthy pizzas, sandwiches, toast, or using as a hamburger bun. You can go to their site and check it out and also download a .75 off coupon. Go check your breads and make a simple change.

Hope you all make some healthy switches to eating better. You’ll love your new lifestyles and it will be something you do for years and years.

My kids have never had white bread and actually prefer brown. There are a few choice brands I like but I'm going to see if I can find this one too… Thanks!

I have heard so much bad stuff recently about high fructose corn syrup. I have to really start looking for it. I tried the Earthgrains bread and it is really good!
