I received product in exchange for my unbiased review.
Today we received four plush Zoonicorns ( think Zebra + Unicorn) and a Zoonicorn book. The book is nice sized and hardcover so it was super nice to hold during bedtime. My girls (first grade and preschool aged) absolutely love bedtime stories so they were super excited to have a new story tonight before bed. I love having my girls be excited about reading and being read to. The Zoonicorn plush dolls and the book together definitely added a lot of excitement to our bedtime routine tonight! The set we received (4 plush and 1 book) retails for $49.91 on the Zoonicorn website.
The pictures in the book are nice and captured my daughters’ attention. The story we were sent featured a bison who needed help going to sleep and since this is a very age appropriate topic for my preschooler I appreciated the emphasize on how to breath calmly, lay down, and go to sleep. There was even a picture of the bison holding one of the Zoonicorn dolls. The story was short and sweet, definitely one I would grab for those nights when you just want to get through bedtime. Just like the bison went to bed holding a Zoonicorn, both of my daughters are sleeping with their Zoonicorn dolls tonight.
The real hit for my girls were the plush Zoonicorns they could hold while hearing the story about them. All four were included so my girls each have 2. There is a pink, blue, green, and purple Zoonicorn. You can purchase the Zoonicorn dolls separately for $9.99 each or in the set like we received. I feel the Zoonicorn toys cover a good spectrum of different colors so if you only purchase one for a child, you have a good chance of picking one they like. My girls loved knowing what each of the Zoonicorns represented so we spent some time reading the inside cover about each Zoonicorn so they could memorize their names and what each Zoonicorn represented. The plush Zoonicorns are really cute, soft, and the perfect size to sleep with for a child or to bring in the car. I know my girls will spend tomorrow playing with their Zoonicorns and looking at their book.
In addition to the books and plush Zoonicorns, there is Web content that has Zoonicorn coloring pages, some interactive stories, and games for children. I appreciate that beyond the physical Zoonicorns, and the book there is even more content the enhance the experiences my kids have with the stories and their toys. Each of the stories focuses on a lesson, including: going to bed when needed, asking for help, and admitting you were wrong.
Zoonicorn has launched a series of interactive stories, games and apps for both IOS and Android. I downloaded the games and stories available for IOS for my girls to play with. I am excited to share the additional stories with them FOR FREE! While you can make purchases to unlock additional features of the apps, the actual complete story is FREE. I am excited to have more stories to read for bedtime the rest of the week with my girls featuring their new Zoonicorns.
You can find more information at their website:

Overall, I feel the set of Zoonicorns makes a nice gift and experience for children with the added benefits of the apps and coloring pages. This gift definitely encourages bonding time with children by making reading time entertaining and interactive. We approve!
Product received for review purposes. Kohl’s has provided the giveaway jewelry. All opinions 100% my own.
The holiday shopping season is in full-force and won’t slow down any until the holidays are finished. Do you have that one person that is a challenge to buy for and not sure what to get them? How about diamonds! Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and with so many choices in the jewelry department at Kohl’s including rings, bracelets, pendants and earrings, you’ll be sure to find that special jewelry gift.
Kohl’s has a large selection of beautiful diamond jewelry for all budgets with great deals this 2014 Christmas season. I appreciate nice jewelry but wear very minimal jewelry. You’ll find me wearing my wedding ring set, oftentimes a necklace and earrings. I just adore the inside-out hoop earrings that provide sparkle at any angle.
These are ½ carat T.W. diamond earrings with 10k gold over silver. The hoops have diamonds on the front of the hoop and on the inside front of the hoop as well, giving off gorgeous glisten every time the light shines on them. They may look like a ton of diamonds which can be gaudy looking, but these are far from gaudy. They are lightweight and easy to clasp with the prong click-it closure.
Diamond Hoop Earrings Features:
I wore these out a few nights ago and received many compliments on how pretty they were. I would buy these for any friend, mother or sibling that adores hoop earrings this holiday season. But don’t forget about yourself. As mom’s, we tend to buy for everyone besides ourselves. We’ll be shopping until we drop for gifts for the children, loved one’s and relatives and these are so affordable (on sale for only $49.99, regularly priced $225), so why not pick up a pair for yourself, so you can feel a bit more glamorous preparing your holiday ham or Christmas morning breakfast.
This is the week to shop, because Kohl’s Cyber Week is going on now through December 6, 2014 with hot jewelry deals plus 20% off site wide with code CYBERTAKE20 through December 3, 2014. Shop Kohl’s jewelry department today!
MaKey MaKey provided product for review purposes, all opinions 100% my own.
This holiday season kids everywhere are craving the coolest gifts and parents are looking to buy the best gifts to keep kids engaged. Sure they may want the newest video game station or that fun new fashion doll but consider MaKey MaKey, an invention kit for the 21st century where children can turn everyday objects into keys for your computer.
MaKey MaKey arrives with the MaKey MaKey board, 7 alligator clips, 6 white wires and an USB cable. When you take it out of the small box it may look confusing but it is very easy.
Before the board will work, the board will need to be connected with the USB cord to the computer. This will then install device drivers and setup. Once everything is installed you can test to make sure it works by opening a text document, connecting an alligator clip to the EARTH area on the board (this is the user) and holding the metal part of the clip. By holding the clip, this means you are grounded. Children can then touch the space or click key on the board and watch on the screen to see if the cursor is moving.
If it is you are all set. MaKey MaKey states this does work out of the box, which I didn’t realize because the instructions say to plug the board into the computer so it can recognize it as the keyboard. Either way, we were ready to play.
Zoe was super excited about this kit. She read the instruction booklet and knew without a doubt she was going to play with the bongos with bananas. The bongo board can be found at makeymakey.com/bongos.
She fetched a few bananas from the fruit bowl and set up the alligator clips. For the bongos she needed two bananas, one for arrow left and one for the spacebar. The other alligator clip stays in earth so she can play, remember that children will need to hold the end of the alligator clip. She then played tunes on the bananas!
So cool, right?
She also wanted to try out the MaKey MaKey piano, which she played with four carrots and a banana.
Set up was similar where the alligator clips were connected to the arrow pad on the board (left, right, up and down), then to the carrots and a clip on the space area on the board connected to a banana. The EARTH is the clip she held so she can play the piano found at makeymakey.com/piano. Check it out.
We also played an online Pac Man game using a controller made from PlayDoh and I had some fun playing the piano using Zoe for my keys. Anything that is even a tad bit conductive will work.
MaKey MaKey is fun and really for anyone of any age. It can get children using their imaginations by connecting any item they wish. The possibilities are endless! We adore this open-ended kit for children of all ages. It is an inspiring kit where children will be stoked to play with electronics. The best part? This takes no batteries but you do need a computer.
MaKey MaKey works with any laptop or computer with a USB port and a recent operating system.
Think your children would love turning objects into computer keys? Visit www.makeymakey.com for more information and www.makeymakey.com/howto for more ideas so children can have fun. The invention kit retails for $49.99.

I received Tolalu products in exchange for a post about the personalized gifts for kids. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Choosing gifts for kids can be a discouraging task; will they like it, do they have it already, is it age-appropriate, will parents approve? These are all the questions we ask ourselves when shopping for gifts for kids. Which is why personalized gifts for kids are the perfect way to relieve stress, save time and show meaning.
Tolalu are all about kids, selling a nice assortment of personalized gifts from calendars to placemats, bookmarks, storybooks, notebooks and more.
Zoe loves personalized gifts so she went on a shopping spree choosing bookmarks, a notebook and a calendar.
There are many kid-friendly designs for boys & girls in friendly characters or children can add a photo of themselves to many of the items. For the bookmark Zoe chose her favorite animal; monkey. This adorable monkey is hanging from his tail on a branch and is personalized with her name.
Children will receive 4 bookmarks, perfect for little bookworms. She also chose a notebook to keep as a journal and to write.
We’re really working on neater writing, so she is always writing in a notebook. She also chose the monkey friend design for the notebook personalized with her name. This 80-page spiral bound notebook has blank white pages inside to draw or write.
Lastly, Zoe wanted a calendar. She is fascinated in keeping up with birthdays, holidays and important dates, so having her own fun calendar is exciting. She chose the pink dancer theme which features cheerful and vibrant illustrations little girls will love.
She added in her own photos for every month plus the cover. The process of making the calendar was simple. Once we chose this picture calendar, she added her name to every page and then added in photos to the photo gallery. Once all our images were in the gallery, we dragged and dropped the images to the calendar. We were told many of the images weren’t the best resolution but I took the risk and allowed Zoe to add them since she really wanted them on her calendar. The calendar turned out stunning.
High quality printing with pictures that feature true colors without any fuzziness or graininess. This is a desk calendar so she’s been keeping it on her nightstand. An affordable gift that children would absolutely adore!
If you are looking for an affordable unique gift that is a one-of-the-kind gift children will smile about, Tolalu.com is the place to look. Their gifts are cute and fun. Keep in mind when ordering that it took about 2 weeks for our gifts to arrive. So order well in advance if ordering for a birthday, school or holiday. Visit www.tolalu.com for more information.

Our family doesn’t go all out for Easter. My kids each get an Easter basket filled with mostly healthy and useful items. Not chocolate, candy and jelly beans. Have kids? Check out 60+ Easter basket ideas for kids.
If you have a baby, you’ll want to get them some age-appropriate baby items for their basket.
Below are gift ideas you should get for baby for Easter.
Babies loved stuffed plush and the Melissa & Doug Meadow Medley Lamby is the perfect plush for babies. This 8” white lamb says “Baa, baa, baa” when his belly is pressed. He is too cute.
Or go for a different style plush that baby will love to grab. The bunny or lamb plush squeaker from Pottery Barn Kids makes a wonderful Easter gift. The handle is just the right size for babies little hands and the head squeaks when baby squeezes.
Books make wonderful gifts for any child, any age. The love of reading starts at home. If this is baby’s first Easter, place the Baby’s First Easter padded board book in their basket. This book has colorful illustrations that are cute. Baby will love it. If not shop these baby board books to find the perfect book.
Easter socks are small and will keep their tootsies warm on Easter. Get them a new pair of Easter socks to celebrate! I love these Carter’s Easter socks and hair clip set for baby girls and the Easter Bunny socks for baby boys also from Carter’s.
It’s Easter and baby will need a new bodysuit to wear. You will possibly dress them up in an Easter outfit but keep in mind, they aren’t the most comfortable for babies. Buy an Easter bodysuit with a comfortable pair of pants so they can enjoy this special holiday. For girls the adorable Easter Bunny bodysuit from Gymboree (shown above) or for baby boys the 2-piece Somebunny loves me bodysuit set.
Buy baby a few new infant toys to keep them engaged. There are wonderful toys from rattles to blocks, teethers, balls, dolls, mirrors, stroller toys, cars and more for babies. A few favorites include
Hair Accessories or hats
Hair accessories make the outfit (right ladies?) I had a bald baby so never got to use hair bows but had fun with headbands. Fill those baskets with fun new headbands and bows! And not to leave out our little prince’s, check out this cute Bunny Beanie in blue!

This post is part of a sponsored campaign with Brandfluential and pickURgift. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I’m an excellent shopper, it is one of my favorite hobbies. I love shopping for those I love and when I find a good shopping deal, but everyone has one person (or possibly several) that are difficult to shop for. That happens to be my mother. My mom is technically challenged, owns every kitchen gadget you can think of, has no sense of fashion, considers most jewelry as gaudy, doesn’t workout, only likes manicures and lives with me. Her wish list consists of a $500 vacuum cleaner and a $300 stand mixer. Um, she has lived with me for almost a year, I’d be buying those gifts for me for use in my home, not hers. It makes no sense to buy those until she finds a place of her own.
So when I shop for her I just want to pull my hair out. She dislikes clothes I buy for her so I quit doing that years ago. She has received more manicure gift certificates then I can count, smells flowery from all the perfume she receives and has doubles of kitchenware’s. A few years back I wanted to give up, but I had to get her a gift. So what do I get her?
Yes my friends, that is a personalized “mom” coffee scoop and sugar and creamer set. How lame. Bad gift? I’d say so.
It’s a gift my children would buy me, not an adult child giving their mother. It all made perfect sense at the time though. She drinks eight pots of coffee a day (no joke) so I thought it would be the ideal gift for her. She loved it but come on, she’s a coffee addict and owns numerous coffee scoops as well as various sugar and creamer sets. It had to be the worst gift I have ever given. But she still uses both, so she either keeps them to not hurt my feelings (remember she lives with me) or she really likes them. Still, a bad gift if you ask me.
I’ll never buy a bad gift again as pickURgift, the convenient shopping solution for those hard to buy for recipients, is here to help. With pickURgift, YOU the shopper will create a shopping list of gifts you think the recipient will absolutely love. And it is simple. Whenever you are online browsing gifts and you come across that must-have gift, you’ll add that gift to a gift list with the “UR Button”, similar to a pin it button. The gifts bookmark into the gift list, ready for the list to be emailed for that person to check. When you have finished creating the gift list, click to send an email and the recipient will receive the list, where they can select the gifts they would like. From there you can buy that person those gifts.
It’s easy peasy. There will be no more stressing when I have to shop for my mom. I’m ready to tackle her birthday and the holidays this year with pickURgift.
Have you ever given or received a bad gift? I’d love to hear about those gifts!
