No I’m not talking about salty greasy potato chips, donuts or cakes and cookies. But snacking every 2-3 hours between meals keeps your metabolism going. Check out the book: Master Your Metabolism: The 3 Diet Secrets to Naturally Balancing Your Hormones for a Hot and Healthy Body! I haven’t read it yet but just purchased so looking forward to reading this. You need food for energy which is why I eat every 2-3 hours. Here is how my everyday schedule looks.
Now this changes a little everyday as I work full-time but I never go without 3 hours of eating something. Eat healthy snacks though. Fruits, vegetables, yogurt, no sugar added pudding, cheese and crackers, homemade whole wheat muffins,Kashi bars, Luna bars and I love Sunchips. Now there is a trick to this. Although, I do not count calories never eat more than 200 calories for a snack. At 9:15am my small snack I’ll eat a 10 calorie no sugar added jello cup. They taste great and you can’t beat it for only 10 calories. The snack before my lunch I usually eat some type of fruit like an apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter or with a low fat cheese stick. After lunch I usually have to have something sweet so I’m not depriving myself. Luna Bars are amazing. There are a variety of flavors that taste great. The chocolate peppermint stick one is amazing. It’s almost like eating a Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie. The Lemon Bar they carry is just like homemade lemon bars which takes away any sweet cravings I have. They are full of nutrition. I also eat a handful of raw natural almonds everyday. They are a super food. Full of protein and fiber and many other nutrients that are good for you. These are high in calories but it’s the good fats in them(monounsaturated)which can help prevent heart disease. There are so many yummy healthy snacks you can eat. Fage yogurt mixed with fresh berries, air popped popcorn(although there are great ones for the microwave), dry cereal, hard boiled eggs, Skinny Cow ice cream products are delicious, smoothies, the list is endless. Just look for low or no sugar foods at only 200 calories or less. One more thing drink water, and lots of it. I purchased a stainless steel water bottle that holds 28 oz of water. This is 4 of my 8 oz glasses. I drink around 12(8oz) glasses of water daily. It is essential to losing weight and feeling full.
Here’s a yummy coffee snack that’s healthy for you.
1 scoop protein powder vanilla or chocolate
1 cup cold coffee
1 cup ice
1-2 packets Truvia(optional)
Add all to a blender. Mix until smooth. Enjoy.
I also love making my own cinnamon chips. They are wonderful. Here’s what you need:
1 whole grain tortilla cut into 8 pieces
1 tsp Smart Balance Butter
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
dash of allspice
1/4 teaspoon demerara cane sugar
Preheat oven 350. Mix cinnamon, allspice, and sugar in a small bowl. Spray baking sheet lightly with Pam. Place tortillas on baking sheet and brush with butter, sprinkle with the spices and bake 6-9 minutes. Delicious and a yummy crunchy snack.
So get eating!
