I’ve been reviewing the KettleWorx program for the last 5 weeks now. If your not familiar, KettleWorx is a complete home fitness program based entirely on kettlebell training. The complete KettleWorx system includes ten DVDs, training in 200 unique exercises, over 12 hours of personalized kettlebell instruction and a healthy eating guide. The KettleWorx program results in a remarkable body transformation after just six weeks, and requires only three 20-minute workouts per week.
I actually skipped out last week due to my grandma moving back up here, so I wasn’t home very much. She isn’t in the best of health and I’ve been taking care of her. I’m ready to go this week though. I did get in what I could but it was just a few minutes here and there, doing a few exercises I love from the program. The last 5 weeks have been wonderful. My arms look more toned, my thighs are not as jiggly and mama pooch, well it’s still there, BUT I can see definition….woohoo. That excites me. The entire 20 minutes is go, go, go. You go from one exercise to the next with a tiny pause break in the screen. I truly believe my body is more firm due to the KettleWorx program.
There are quite a few things I like about this program. Ryan, the trainer, truly believes in this program, and makes you want to finish. There were nights I wanted to give up, and I would listen to him, and work through it. If I want my body back, I must push and I did. Through the sweat, and pain I made it. I know I have to do this. He is a great at home trainer and explains everything really well, even how to use the kettlebells correctly. 20 minutes 3 times a week is all it takes. I love this. Anyone has the time to do this. Now, that I’m a stay at home mom again, this is the first thing I do in the morning. I get up, exercise, shower, eat and I’m ready to go for the day, and feel energized. It’s a great feeling. I love that I do not need any machines. I have a Total Gym that has been used a handful of times and was extremely expensive. The KettleWorx program does everything, cardio, resistance, and core. My husband has told me he can definitely see the change. I’m loving it. Here are some other advantages of using kettlebells:
~Only a kettlebell allows free-flowing motion for long, lean muscle development.
~Only a kettlebell allows you to transition to many different exercises very quickly.
~Only a kettlebell allows for certain angles and movements that are impossible with a dumbbell (but common in everyday life.)
~Only a kettlebell can be held in so many different ways, allowing for an even greater diversity of exercises as well as a means to achieve different effects with similar exercises.
~Only kettlebell training will improve your grip strength.
~Only kettlebell training will increase your range of motion.
~Only kettlebell training will increase your flexibility.
~Only kettlebell training will improve your balance and body awareness.
~Only kettlebell training will improve your posture.
~Only kettlebell training can work your entire body, and provide a complete cardio, core and resistance workout, all in 20 minutes.
~Only kettlebell training is as fun as kettlebell training!
These are the advantages over a dumbbell.
For the negatives, there aren’t many. I would highly recommend doing this in a large enough room as you do swing the kettlebells quite a bit. Make sure you hold on tight! I would also like to say to start off with the 5lb weight. The 10lb kettlebell was quite heavy at first. I have done quite a bit of exercising the last year, and I wish I got the lighter kettlebell to start off with. I love the heavier one now though.
I will update with my final thoughts next Monday. If your going to use this program to lose weight I cannot comment on this. I am using this strictly to tone and firm my body. I actually lost 2lbs in the first 3 weeks so I increased my calorie intake(with healthy foods of course) so I do not lose anymore. I’m at my goal of 140 and cannot and do not want to lose more. Toning is all I need. I’m going to be very brave here and show a photo of myself in my bathing suit. This was from last weekend.
