We can all agree that regular exercise is imperative for good health, physical fitness and to help with our weight loss goals. I confess, I have never exercised in my life. I truly believed since I was always a slender girl throughout my childhood and teens I’d stay slim, boy was I wrong. After kids, my weight began to increase to where I knew I’d have to make lifestyle changes. I recently eliminated all junk and soda from my diet, eat healthy meals, began adding in some basic exercise routines and now exercise 6 days a week. I always say to my husband, how did I go all these years without exercising. I feel amazing after my tough hour workout is finished. I would love to join a gym however I cannot afford the monthly fees. I do go to Zumba but other than that, I workout at home which is beneficial to me as I am saving money, have drinks on hand, have nobody staring at me and can exercise at my convenience. I have many fitness DVDs, use Wii dancing games, run on the treadmill when the weather doesn’t allow me to get outdoors and facilitate the stairs. My living room is large, so I have a nice area to kickbox, dance and use a Gaiam yoga mat for floor exercises. I highly recommend everyone to have a yoga or exercise mat with some padding to protect elbows, knees and back. Trying to perform floor exercises on a bare floor is not adequate as it can be painful and not at all comfortable. Yoga mats are superb for mat-based exercises.
CafePress, the online customization engine, selling unique personalized gifts and custom products, offers customized fitness products from clothing, to water bottles, gym bags, journals and yoga mats. I chose from their large variety of stylish yoga mats to help keep my feet from sliding ensuring I am comfortable while exercising.
I chose the Gaiam Yoga Mat which measures 68×24 so it is long enough for my stretching exercises, performing planks for strengthening my mid-section, standing exercises for flexibility and some ab exercises. The yoga mat is thin at only .12 inches thick, so isn’t ideal for many back exercises where you lie flat, though it works, however it works well as the sticky surface allows me not to slip when performing many exercises. To give you a visual, the mat is about as thick as two pennies or a scrabble tile.
It features no slip material for traction, is slightly cushioned and is certainly much more comfortable than my hard wood flooring with area rug. Due to the long length it is proper for my tall height of 5’9”. Because it is lightweight and made of flexible materials, when not in use I just roll up and place in the closet. The pink custom yoga mat is reversible, stylish, seems durable and is perfect for travel as well.
I can also wash when the stickiness diminishes by adding 1/3 cup distilled vinegar when washing. This yoga mat must be air dried by laying flat. I would recommend this mat for those who are looking for a lightweight, standard yoga mat, that is portable and affordable. Visit www.cafepress.com to see all their yoga mats and custom products.
