I did it!!! Four months of pain, hard work, dedication and motivation has paid off. Back in December when I got my flu shot, and they told me my weight I knew I had to change. I was unhappy with my looks, tired and eating junk. Four months later I have hit my goal of 140 and then some! I am elated that I did this alone without the help of a gym or trainers. I researched so much on my weight loss journey, from the types of food I should be eating, what not to eat, what I needed to cut out of my diet, to what exercises will burn the most and am still doing this now, as I am now maintaining while toning.
This week I was surprised that I lost more weight which I didn’t want. I stopped tracking calories on MyFitnessPal as I feel I’ve learned enough about food. I did start doing a high intensity workout which I feel contributed to the weight loss. The thing is, I still have a bit of fat on my sides and lower abdomen. You may not think so by my after picture, but trust me there is still a bit there that needs to be gone. Now I’m going to be focusing on core exercises, with a bit of cardio, nothing extreme though. I’m implementing a lot of plank moves and ab exercises to help with this.
I just want you all to know, to NEVER EVER give up. You can do this. Remember, no pain, no gain. It WILL hurt. You WILL cry. You’ll WANT to give up, but don’t. Keep going! The results are so worth it in the end.
A few years back I had doctors telling me a tummy tuck would be my only option to lose the excess skin I have on my stomach. They were mistaken. I hardly have any skin left hanging since I’ve lost over 30 lbs. Exercise and eating correctly does wonders for your body. Removing junk is key!
All I’ve done since Jan 2 is removed Diet Pepsi from my diet as well as prepackaged junk, added in lots of fruits and vegetables, healthy fats, lean proteins and exercise. At first I was exercising a lot, about 45 minutes a day and only eating about 1200 calories. Now I’m eating 2,000 calories, burning about 300 per day and drinking a lot of water, about a gallon in a half a day.
I’m just so proud of myself for making it this far, and refuse to stop. Even at my skinniest in my middle/high school days I didn’t have abs. I now have definition, there are actually muscles under all the belly fat I had!
Do not give up. Eat right. Drink lots of water. Exercise and you will see changes. Keep going so you can hit your goal as well!
Weight Loss Tips:
I couldn’t afford a gym, so faithfully exercised with Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred at the beginning of my new lifestyle, it worked and I highly recommend.
If you have a Wii, get dancing. The Just Dance games had me burning over 400 calories in just a half hour. Even now I am burning over 200 in just a half hour time. You need to move to burn calories!
Run up and down your stairs several times a day. Get off the couch and do some jumping jacks. Whatever, just move whenever possible. You don’t have to kill yourself at the beginning, baby steps!
Every meal eat a serving of a lean protein (4 ounces), slow carb and fast carb. It helps with your metabolism. Slow carbs are foods such as berries, lettuce, peppers, beans, spinach, squash, radishes, broccoli, cauliflower and beans. Fast carbs are your grains, potatoes, corn and sugary fruits. Be sure to weigh out those serving sizes!
Add beans to your diet. There are so many varieties so find kinds you enjoy. They are full of fiber making you feel full, loaded with nutrients and protein.
Drink lots of water. Fill a gallon jug and challenge yourself to drink the entire jug throughout the day.
Eat breakfast within a half hour of waking up. I’ll be posting recipes but oatmeal with protein powder and berries topped with nuts or 2 egg whites and 1 whole egg scrambled with spinach, green peppers and onions with a half ounce of low fat cheese and half slice of whole grain toast or Greek yogurt with berries and bananas topped with raw honey are great choices.
Stay tuned for some sample menus that I’ve been enjoying during my weight loss efforts!
