As a K’NEX Ambassador I get to share awesome K’NEX products with you, all opinions 100% my own.
Amusements parks make for a great family day, unfortunately, they can be costly so many don’t get to enjoy this form of entertainment as often as they’d like. As a child I can remember the thrill pulling up to the entrance of a theme park, the excitement was at its height as I was going to ride on the scariest rides or go down the biggest water slide. I’m the same today, I absolutely love thrill park rides as do my children. That’s why I knew my kids would appreciate the K’NEX Amusement Park Space Series.
This series of amusement park thrill rides includes 3 space themed rides. This series is new from K’NEX.
K’NEX Supersonic Swirl Building Set: A 464 piece set to inspire creativity in our young, building a fun thrill ride. This has K’NEX parts you’ll be familiar with; connectors, rods, bricks, spacers, gears and more. Zoe (6) wanted a challenge and told me nobody will help her build this set. She went to work immediately following the full-color instruction booklet. The motor will need 2 AA batteries not included. She did need some help on a few steps but the majority was assembled by her.
She was so proud of herself! Once built and turned on, watch the included figure take a ride into space.
There are four planes or I guess they are space shuttles that dip up and down swirling around and around. Kind of reminds you of a swing ride. Very cool once fully built…take a look.
Super cool, amazes me the sets they create!
K’NEX Star Shooter Roller Coaster Building Set: A 434 piece set that consists primarily of rods and connectors. A track will be built and a chain for the track as well. Gavyn went to work on this one, needing no help at all. It took him about 45 minutes to build. Again, this will run with the motor also needing 2 AA batteries, not included.
Once constructed, the roller coaster stands about 3feet tall. When the motor is turned on, the car will climb the hill and go down around the swoops, twists, turns and loop.
Gavyn thinks it is so cool how the chain looks so genuine and how the coaster car stays on the track.
He was also so proud he built this alone!
K’NEX Amazin’ 8 Roller Coaster Building Set: A 448 piece set that will have children building another captivating coaster. This track also consists of many rods and connectors, a bendable track and links to build a chain.
Also has the coaster car so everyone can see it in action. I actually built this one as I never get a chance to build with K’NEX and had no issues at all. It took me about an hour to complete.
From building the Amazin’ 8, there are some things I noticed. The amusement park series have parts that are smaller than classic K’NEX. The parts have shrunk, are micro like. The rods are thinner and the connectors are tiny.
Instructions are easy to follow on all sets, with color coding. Once a step has been finished it will show it shaded on the next step. Since pieces are smaller than we are accustomed to, you have to make sure all parts are fully connected. Gavyn had part of the track not clicked all the way, so the coaster car got stuck.
Children will be engaged while building the sets plus they are educational as kids will need to follow direction, imagine what they are going to build by looking at the box and then get to play with the finished model. Like with all K’NEX, these are durable once built, but because these are smaller pieces, they are a bit more flimsy when moving around. Once children no longer want to play with the set, they can be used as open-ended play for endless possibilities and endless playtime.
I would highly recommend any of these sets for boys or girls that love to build with construction toys. Amusement parks rides come to life right in the comfort of your own home! They are fascinating! Sets are recommended for children 7+.
