Spin Master Games provided Logo Party for review purposes, all opinions 100% my own.
Christmas means a lot to me as I get to have my entire family under the same roof, something that only happens a couple times per year. In the early morning, I prepare breakfast casserole for my brother and his family, my mom and my family. Later that evening, we head to my brothers house to celebrate Christmas with my dad. We eat great food, exchange gifts, play the Wii and enjoy fun board games.
Playing board games on Christmas is a tradition for our family. They bring much needed time together in an enjoyable way. Usually, we’ll enjoy classics such as Monopoly, Scrabble and Yahtzee, but this year I’m bringing Logo Party Board Game from Spin Master Games.
Since, I work with brands I was really excited about this game, to see how much I knew about logo’s.
Logo Party needs to be played in teams, so at least four people should be playing, the more the better! The game includes action cards and reveal it! cards. Action cards have categories on them; draw it, do it and describe it. Reveal It! cards have company logo’s displayed on them. There are 120 logos!
Play will begin with each team choosing a card reader, this person will move team’s pawn, draw action cards and announce the card category or drawing reveal it cards and activating the timer. There should be a new card reader each turn. On your team’s turn, move the pawn one space on the circular game board. The game board has colors. When landing on a color space, the team will choose an action card. The card reader will announce the card, find the color on the card that corresponds to the color on the game board and do what it says.
Draw it cards: Using the included paper, clues will be drawn about the brand on the card. This is very similar to Pictionary, as you cannot write letters, words or numbers. This is a challenge when you get a logo such as BP, and you can’t write letters.
Do it cards: You’ll be playing a bit of charades with Logo Party as well. Do it cards will have the card reader acting out clues about the brand. Keep those lips zipped though as you cannot sing or talk! Think you can act out Gatorade or Colgate? How about Super Glue?
Describe it cards: You will do exactly as this says, describe the brand. You cannot mention the brand name or any portion and can’t say sounds like or rhymes with. I was lucky on my first turn as I had to describe Sharpie and Tupperware. Sharpie was easy for me as I described what our then three year old used to draw all over our freshly painted walls. And Tupperware I said quality plastic food storage containers. We scored as my team got both correct! But some are not as easy. Try to describe Chun King, when you have no clue what that brand is. It will leave you stumped.
The card reader will give the clues based on the card and their team needs to guess correctly before time runs out on the logo timer. The blue logo on the timer will be pulled up to lock. When ready to start giving clues, the start button will be pushed down. When time has run out, a ding will activate. The timer is 25 seconds, so act out the cards quickly.
If the team guesses correctly, pawn will be moved one space and they will continue playing. If the team did not guess before time ran out, it is the next teams turn.
If you land on a Reveal It! space on the board, a reveal it! card will be drawn and inserted into the logo timer. This is done by pulling up on the blue logo timer, like you are starting the clock, inserting the card into the two slots between the blue and red start, with the reveal it side facing you. Both teams need to see the timer as both teams will be guessing. Press start. The card will slowly reveal the image.
If you know your brand logos, start screaming it. This is tricky at first since only a small portion of the card will display. As the timer get’s closer to running out, you’ll see more of the logo. If you guess correctly, your team’s pawn will move one space on the board and your team will draw an action card. If nobody guesses, nobody advanced and play continues to the next team, moving their pawn to draw an action or reveal card. To make this more challenging, put the reveal cards in upside down, or sideways.
Depending on how brand smart players are, the game can go quickly since a team can continue play until they do not guess correctly. Once a team reaches the Logo Party space in the center of the board, they need to draw a reveal card and successfully guess to win. However, the other team can guess and steal the turn. The team on the logo party space must guess correctly to win.
We had so much fun playing this game with tons of laughs. The reveal cards can be tricky if you don’t know some brands like this?
I’m still clueless.
Acting out the cards can be tricky but I’m proud of my team, get clever! We did really well acting out Facebook by pointing to our face and pretending we were turning pages of a book. Some describe cards are challenging as there are two brands for a category, so the team is required to guess both to win the card. Some team members aren’t as brand smart, leaving members baffled.
A fun holiday gift or game to purchase to play for Family game Night. We have played numerous times and can’t wait to play on Christmas. The game is recommended for children 8+, however my son age 11 have difficulties with many of the logos, though still had fun. I would keep the game for adults to test their logo knowledge!
