Ready for the eclipse on Monday? Do you have your menu planned out? If not, how about Galaxy Popcorn? It’s quick, simple and a delish snack that the whole family can enjoy while watching the Solar Eclipse or even just relaxing and watching a family movie together!
I’m sure your family is just as excited as ours is about Monday! We had a lot of fun last weekend experimenting with a couple of different snacks in preparation for the big day. Experiment #1 was making Galaxy Cookies. I had a certain design for the frosting, but it didn’t turn out quite like I planned. The best part of the failure was, we still had yummy sugar cookies to eat so it wasn’t a failure after all! My second attempt at a snack was Galaxy Popcorn. It was a hit with the family! So experiment #2 was a SUCCESS! LOL!
PRO TIP: It’s Back to School time which means between the kids schedules, lunches that need packed, papers that need signed in addition to just normal day to day life, things will be very chaotic! Why not take a few extra minutes to yourself and shop online? I absolutely love ordering stuff online. Don’t get me wrong, I still love scouring the stores looking for great deals, however, sometimes it’s easier to order online and wait to have the items delivered right to your door! By ordering online, you almost eliminate heading the store only to find out they are out of what you are looking for OR they don’t even carry it!
GALAXY POPCORN RECIPE
1 5 oz bag popped popcorn – I did it for convenience and to eliminate unpopped kernels
Star stickers or other stickers if you’d like
Small funnel – optional
Empty the bag of popcorn out either on parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Empty half of the black candy melts into a microwave safe bowl and follow the directions according to the bag. After the melts are ready, pour the candy melts into the squeeze bottle using a funnel. Instead of pouring the melted candy into the bottle, you can also use a spoon and drizzle the candy over the popcorn. Then repeat the same process for the remaining colors.
Then before the candy melts harden, sprinkle on the stars and glitter
Once everything has had a chance to harden, remove the yummy and delicious popcorn drizzled with candy melts and place them in the galvanized buckets or just put it all into a bowl and enjoy!
