I absolutely adore lasagna! A nice plate full of piping hot lasagna, right out of the oven, in all of it’s cheesy and saucy glory is just simply divine!
Now, mix chocolate and lasagna together and you have heaven! No, I don’t mean actually adding chocolate to your Italian lasagna! LOL! What I’m talking about is a simply divine Chocolate Lasagna recipe!
This particular Chocolate Lasagna recipe is full of Oreos, cream cheese, cool whip, and instant pudding! Unfortunately the recipe that I am sharing is not calorie friendly, however, you could definitely make ingredient substitutions! You could use a light cool whip, lite cream cheese, skim milk and sugar-free chocolate instant pudding.
This indulgent dessert would be great for a family get together, a romantic dinner, or just because.
Chocolate Lasagna Recipe
26 Oreo cookies
6 tbsp butter, melted
8 oz package cream cheese, softened
1/4 c granulated sugar
2 tbsp cold milk
1 t vanilla
12 oz tub cool whip, divided
3 9 oz packages chocolate instant pudding
3 c cold milk
Chocolate jimmies, optional
9 x 9 casserole dish
Crush 26 Oreo cookies into fine crumbs, using a food processor.
Add the melted butter and process again until a dough forms (If the cookie crumbs are still slightly dry, add more butter 1 Tablespoon at a time.)
Press the cookie crust into a lined 9 x 9 casserole dish.
Place the casserole dish in the fridge as you prepare the cream cheese layer.
Combine the cream cheese, milk, vanilla, and sugar and mix well. Stir in 1 cup of cool whip.
Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cookie crumb layer and return to the fridge.
Prepare the chocolate pudding by combining the milk and instant pudding powder. Whisk for 4 minutes until the pudding starts to thicken.
Pour the chocolate pudding over the cream cheese layer and then spread the remaining Cool Whip over the top.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 -4 hours before serving.
Just prior to serving, spring chocolate jimmies or add crushed cookie crumbs as an optional garnish.
Pro Tip: The type of Oreos you use to change the amount of butter needed. Go based on whether it sticks together more than worrying if you’re adding too much butter.
